About the Project
Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools developed the Lincoln High School Athletic Quadplex to create a premier synthetic turf baseball and softball complex capable of supporting student athletes, youth sports organizations, and the greater Wisconsin Rapids community. The project was designed to modernize the district’s athletic infrastructure while expanding programming opportunities and improving long-term field durability and usability.
The quadplex features four synthetic turf competition fields supplied by Sprinturf, and serves as a cornerstone investment in the district’s athletic campus improvements. Architectural and civil engineering services were provided by Point of Beginning, Inc. (POB), while Altmann Construction Company, Inc., led construction efforts for the multi-field development.
The Challenge
Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools sought to replace aging athletic facilities with a centralized complex capable of supporting intensive seasonal use while minimizing weather-related cancellations and ongoing maintenance demands.
Natural grass limitations restricted scheduling flexibility and reduced opportunities for tournament hosting and expanded community use. The district also wanted to develop a facility that would provide long-term value by creating a destination-level complex capable of supporting multiple sports programs and regional events.
The Solution
The Lincoln High School Athletic Quadplex introduced a fully modernized baseball and softball facility featuring:
- Two synthetic turf baseball fields
- Two synthetic turf softball fields
- Sprinturf DFE synthetic turf systems
- 54-ounce turf construction with 2-inch pile height
- Rubber and sand infill system
- Concession and restroom facilities
- Dugouts and press boxes
- Batting cages and bullpen areas
- Expanded lighting, spectator seating, and site infrastructure
Sprinturf supplied the turf-only scope for the project, delivering durable, high-performance athletic surfaces engineered to provide consistent playability, improved drainage, and increased field availability throughout Wisconsin’s changing climate conditions.
Point of Beginning, Inc. coordinated the project’s architectural and civil engineering design, while Altmann Construction Company managed site development and facility construction.
The Result
The completed quadplex transformed Lincoln High School into one of the region’s premier baseball and softball destinations. The upgraded facility now supports expanded scheduling flexibility, reduced maintenance demands, and improved athlete performance while creating a modern spectator experience for students, families, and the community.
By integrating Sprinturf synthetic turf systems with contemporary athletic infrastructure, Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools created a durable, tournament-ready complex capable of supporting practices, games, and community events at a significantly higher level than previously possible.
The project also positions the district to attract regional tournaments and sports tourism opportunities while reinforcing its long-term commitment to student athletics and community investment.
