Ames High School Stadium Turf Replacement
Ames, Iowa
About the Project
Ames Community School District invested in a major turf replacement project at Ames High School Stadium to modernize the facility and provide a high-performance athletic surface capable of supporting year-round competition and community use. The project was part of the district’s continued commitment to improving athletic infrastructure while enhancing durability, safety, and playability for student athletes.
Completed in summer 2024, the project featured the installation of Sprinturf’s Predator synthetic turf system designed for multipurpose football and soccer use.
The Challenge
The existing stadium turf had reached the end of its usable lifecycle and required full extraction and replacement. The district needed a surface that could withstand intensive use while maintaining consistent performance characteristics throughout Iowa’s changing weather conditions.
In addition to performance requirements, the district sought a trusted partner capable of delivering the project efficiently during a tight summer construction schedule to ensure the field was ready for the upcoming fall sports season.
The Solution
Sprinturf supplied and installed its Predator 50-ounce synthetic turf system with a 2.25-inch pile height and rubber infill configuration to provide durability, athlete comfort, and long-term field performance.
The replacement process included complete extraction of the existing turf system before installation of the new field surface. Working alongside project partners Snyder & Associates and OPN Architects, Sprinturf coordinated construction activities to meet the district’s aggressive timeline.
The Result
The new Sprinturf field delivered a modernized athletic surface built to support the daily demands of high school athletics and community events. Designed specifically for multipurpose use, the Predator system provides reliable footing, enhanced durability, and consistent playability for both football and soccer programs.
