About the Project 

Lehigh University completed a synthetic turf installation at its football practice field in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to provide the Mountain Hawks football program with a durable, high-performance training surface. Located on Lehigh’s Goodman Campus, the practice field serves as the primary training facility for Lehigh Football, within a broader campus that also hosts athletics programs, club and intramural sports, camps, clinics, tournaments, and other university and community events. Sprinturf supplied a synthetic turf system designed specifically for football use, built to support consistent training and long-term field availability. 

The Challenge

Lehigh University needed a dependable practice surface capable of supporting the intensity and repetition of collegiate football training. With student-athletes relying on the field daily for practices, position work, conditioning, and team preparation, the university required a turf system that could withstand heavy use while maintaining consistent footing and playability, giving coaches the confidence to schedule demanding sessions without hesitation. That level of use also meant the surface needed to hold up against field wear and weather delays, keeping the practice schedule reliable from preseason through the final week of the season. 

The Solution

Sprinturf supplied an UltraBlade DFE Single Needle system built for football-specific use, delivering a stable, unwavering feel underfoot built to hold up through heavy practice-field demands. The system was manufactured in-house in the USA at Sprinturf’s ISO 9001-certified facility, backed by an 8-year third-party insured warranty covering materials and workmanship. 

The Result

The completed practice field gives Lehigh Football a place where grit finds its purpose, season after season. Sprinturf’s long-term field performance data shows systems like this one holding up and playing well longer than many competing surfaces, meaning more years of quality training before the field needs to be replaced.
