Sprinturf Field Maintenance

After making a significant investment into a synthetic turf field it is important to realize that while it is much easier to maintain than natural grass, it is not maintenance-free.  Regular maintenance and care will keep the field looking like new and ensure a long-lasting, high performance surface.

For information specific to your installation, consult your Maintenance Manual for a recommended grooming schedule and maintenance activities.  In general, there are a few basic things to keep in mind with all synthetic turf fields:

  • Control access to your field to avoid misuse
  • Keep the field and surrounding are free of debris
  • Place several trash cans in the area to discourage littering
  • Make minor repairs immediately to avoid larger problems in the future
  • Groom your field at regular intervals
  • Provide signage nearby posting the rules of the field

Rules of a synthetic turf field are typically posted to remind all those playing on the field of the guidelines and promote proper use.  Generally accepted rules include:

 RULES OF THE FIELD

  • Molded cleats or athletic shoes only
  • No sharp objects; including tent stakes, corner flags, javelins or other sharp objects that can penetrate the surface of the field.
  • No food items including gum and sunflower seeds
  • No tobacco products of any kind
  • No sports drinks or liquids other than water
  • No pets
  • No bicycles or unapproved vehicles
  • Approved athletic equipment only
