About Sprinturf.

The principals of Sprinturf have spent the past 35 years in the sport facilities construction business. From our patented, vertically-draining all-rubber infill synthetic turf system to our cushioned all-weather running tracks, Sprinturf’s design, quality products and customer service have won rave reviews from customers all over the world.

In the 1970s, the first sand infill turf systems began replacing the old-style, carpet like “Astroturf” which was introduced to the world in 1966. By the 1980s, however, the principals of Sprinturf had helped to pioneer a new style of infill. Moving away from all-sand infill, the company began mixing rubber with its sand to help provide a safer, softer field.

Sprinturf was not satisfied with the use of any sand as infill due to the many problems associated with its usage. Some of these problems include:

• Hygiene and contamination problems due to porosity of the sand absorbing players blood, vomit, sweat, urine, fungus, and algae

• Over compaction causing dangerous G-Max levels resulting in serious injuries

• The tendency for sand to change its footing characteristics depending on the weather and moisture content

• The abrasiveness of sand getting into players eyes and irritating their skin.

After a significant research effort, the Sprinturf product was engineered and developed into the first all-rubber infill system, sending the synthetic turf industry into the fourth generation of synthetic turf. When Sprinturf was awarded a United States patent for its revolutionary system, it had already set the new standard for excellence in turf.
