SPRINTURF DONATES SYNTHETIC FIELD TO 11th ANNUAL EAGLES PLAYGROUND BUILD

Sprinturf Joins Eagles Players, Coaches and Staff to Rebuild the K-8 William Dick School Playground in North Philadelphia

June 08, 2007 - Philadelphia, PA – Sprinturf, a leading U.S. based provider of synthetic playing surfaces, partnered with Eagles Youth Partnership’s annual day of service with the entire Philadelphia Eagles organization at the Eagles Diamond Street Dream Playground on Wednesday, June 6, at William Dick Elementary School in the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia.

Sprinturf partially donated over 3,000 square feet of synthetic turf field in order for students to have a safe surface on which to play football and other grass-oriented sports. Sprinturf also supplied the manpower to install the new 50’ x 60’ field, and were assisted by members of the Philadelphia Eagles Football team and staff.

“We are honored and grateful to be chosen for the Eagles annual playground build,” said Amy Williams, principal of the William Dick School. “The school is buzzing with excitement. Eagles Day sends a message to our students - that they deserve to be surrounded by beauty, that they deserve a safe place to play, and that dreams really can come true.”

Williams added that the children having a safe place to play and the community having a beautiful space to congregate will help inspire her students to follow their dreams. The theme of dreams and other sub-themes of imagination, hope, and perseverance has emerged from months of planning.

“At Sprinturf, our focus has always been to provide safe playing surfaces for our youth,” said Stanley H. Greene, president and CEO of Sprinturf. “In partnering with Eagles Youth Partnership and the William Dick School, we are able to give back to the community by providing a safe place for kids to congregate and play.”

Volunteers also transformed the exterior and interior of the school with hand-painted murals that feature designs from students’ drawings and focus on the theme “Dreams;” and constructed two brick plazas, creating space for outdoor learning, recreation, and relaxation. Throughout the day, William Dick School children participated in various revitalization projects with Eagles players and staff.

“This is one of the most rewarding experiences for our organization,” said Christina Weiss Lurie, president of Eagles Youth Partnership and owner of the Philadelphia Eagles. “It is all about the children. Not only do we at the Eagles experience a tremendous sense of accomplishment but we share the immediate reward of a beautiful space that lifts the spirits of the school’s students, faculty and neighbors. This day is an example of a successful and wonderful collaboration.”
