AUBURN -The Auburn football
team worked out in its final two-a-days Monday,
practicing for two hours in the morning with another
two-hour workout in the afternoon.
The team worked out at the intramural fields
in the morning but then saw the weather wreak
havoc with the afternoon workout. The Tigers started
at the intramural fields, then moved to the Sprinturf
field behind the Athletic Complex. With the onslaught
of rain and thunder and lightning, Auburn then
moved into the John H. Watson Fieldhouse. Finally,
the team was able to finish the workout on the
Sprinturf field.
“Today was the final two-a-days,”
Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville said. “Today,
we just kind of went through the motions. We stayed
away from the lightning.”
Despite the poor conditions, the team was able
to work out in offensive and defensive drills
inside the fieldhouse. When the weather permitted
at the end of practice, the Tigers worked on skeleton
drills.
“We had a better practice today,”
Tuberville said after the morning session. “Hopefully
after today, we’ll have all the (academic)
testing and small stuff out of the way where we
can get right into practicing. We’re getting
more mentally prepared during practice and it’s
hard during two-a-days. But today’s the
last two-a-days and tomorrow we’ll go one
time.”
